The Board, on paper.

Every Monday morning we print the Board and pin it up in the lobby, by the returns cart. Kindling’s own site lists a printed page among the things anyone can build on it, and this is ours.

Letter paper, portrait. Each sheet makes two flyers: cut along the dashed line across the middle, then snip between the tabs so people can tear one off. We print on canary paper, so the page itself prints no color, and each tab carries the board’s address as plain text (§8.2). Names and cards stay online.

How the Board works

Nobody goes up without saying yes.

The rules

  • Only you put your card on a flyer. A keeper asks by email, and you say yes or no.
  • Say no, and that keeper can’t ask again unless you let them.
  • A request you don’t answer lapses after 14 days.
  • Leave any board in one step. Your card is down within sixty seconds.
  • A flyer nobody keeps for 90 days fades. Its members can vote in a new keeper.

Your page and us

  • Your page stays at your own address. We keep a short reading of it.
  • We never copy your photos, and we never print your name or your card.
  • Pages marked kindling-noindex never go on a board.
  • It’s free. The library’s public budget pays for it, and nobody pays to be introduced.
